At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child's success is the positive involvement of parents. ~ Jane D. Hull

I don't know how many times over the years I've wished my children came with a manual, something to help guide my way, approve my decisions and tell me I was on the right track. Alas, I've never found a secret manual. What I have found and read, is a multitude of parenting books, all touting different and superior approaches to raising strong, happy and healthy children. The range of advice in these books can make one's head spin and bring us back to where we started. Set firm limits, don't set firm limits, be your child's best friend, you are not your child's friend, use rewards, don't use rewards....the list of contradictions goes on and on.

I bring my personal and professional experience as a teacher, counsellor, educational therapist and mom of three to support you in your parenting journey.  I offer gentle guidance and hands on tools that you can put into practice immediately with your children. Together we will find the parenting plan, style and approach that works best for you and your family. In looking at values, work-life demands and family goals, I help new parents and parents-to-be build strong foundations for communication and shared parenting responsibilities. We will learn about childhood development both physical and emotional. We will learn what's going on in your little one's brain to make them behave the way they do. We will tackle challenging behaviour with specific workable strategies for peace and harmony in the home.  My suggestions are highly practical and individualized meaning they will fit into your unique life, schedule and family.

What kind of family do you dream of? What kind of parent do you want to be? What do you want your kids to remember when they are all grown up, raising kids (your grandbabies!) of their own? Carving out some quiet time to talk about these things in a practical way can set us on the path toward a healthy and bright future for our kids and families.  From positive behavioural strategies to the art and power of validation, I will support you in strengthening your parenting skills, leaving you feeling positive, empowered and hopeful. These sessions are for new parents, seasoned parents and for parents-to-be, in fact pregnancy is often an ideal time to explore your family values and develop a parenting plan before baby arrives. Whatever stage you are at, book your consultation today to get started!
