Affordable Counselling

CLINICAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

What if you really need therapy but can’t afford it?

We believe everyone deserves to maintain their mental health and it is part of our mission to provide you with counselling you can afford.

Despite the fact that health insurance may cover certain mental health services, there are many who do not have the means or coverage required to access the services they need on a regular basis. And, let’s be frank… times are tough. If you’re struggling financially and have to decide between groceries and counselling, it’s easy to see how hard it can be to put therapy into your budget.

FAQS

WHAT IS AN INTERN THERAPIST?

An Intern Therapist is a Master’s graduate level student who has completed their academic education in either Counselling Psychology or Social Work.

In order to complete their practical training within their field of study, these students (Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)) are required to earn ‘placement’ hours by providing client counselling.

Once they have completed their training, clinical requirements and passed the Registration Examination, they are eligible to apply for accreditation as a full Registered Psychotherapist by The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or a Registered Social Worker by The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH AN INTERN THERAPIST?

An Intern Therapist is under the direct supervision of a Registered Psychotherapist or Social Worker while completing their training. So, you can rest assured that both your Intern Therapist and their experienced supervisor will collaborate together for the best outcome.

Intern Therapists bring a fresh perspective with knowledge about the latest and most effective forms of intervention and a willingness to apply what they have learned to support you.
