Meet Amy Commanda

M.A., RP (she/her)

ASSOCIATE THERAPIST AND CLINICAL OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

My goal is to help people understand themselves and their story in a way that allows them to remain confident and true to themselves.”

Amy is currently accepting new clients with no wait times and has daytime and some evening availability from Tuesday to Thursday for virtual sessions.

I have a passion for helping empower women, mothers, and couples to overcome their struggles and live a life where they can be their authentic selves.

I believe that each person is blessed with special gifts and a unique purpose through which they can positively impact the community and world around them. When we live in a harmonious and balanced way, we are able to thrive in our daily life and relationships and appreciate all that life has to offer, sharing our gifts and purpose with others.

However, I know there are various influences that create challenges, whether they are within or outside of us. That’s why it is my goal to help clients understand themselves and their story as well as gently guide them in exploring how they can overcome these challenges in a way that allows them to remain confident and true to themselves.

As a First Nations woman and mother, I am confident in providing support for other women who have similar lived experiences such as perinatal anxiety and depression, challenges surrounding Indigenous identity and intergenerational trauma, as well as addressing issues related to women’s wellness.

Cherry Tree Counselling carries a unique vision in supporting and empowering women. For myself, this is very important because, in my culture, women are the backbone of the community.

Currently, I feel women are not getting the support and help they need, nor are their voices being adequately heard. The cherry blossom signifies the striking beauty of the feminine when we are in full bloom, in our full power.

When we are in connection with ourselves and have healthy relationships and supports, then we can motivate and inspire others just by embodying our inner spirit, much like how the cherry blossom tree inspires others with it's beauty.

Unfortunately, I feel more and more that, as a society, we are not appreciating the beauty of the feminine as we should.

As a licensed member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, I am ready and committed to providing a safe, therapeutic environment to best facilitate your healing journey.

I follow a gentle and empathetic approach that is collaborative, prioritizing your needs and intentions as we develop a treatment plan that works best for you.

Amy is accepting new clients and is available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am-2:30pm as well as some evening hours.
