I work with women, mothers, teachers and parents, and specialize in women’s wellness and perinatal mental health.

As an Ontario Certified Teacher and Registered Psychotherapist, I’ve had the honour of teaching and travelling in diverse communities and serving individuals from varied backgrounds and histories.

My academic background and professional experience in the domains of education and counselling have provided me with a unique frame of reference that I use to understand and respect my clients' individual social, emotional and learning styles and needs.

After years of experience in a diverse range of fields, I realized that there was a notable lack of support for women and perinatal mental health.

In response to these lack of resources, I decided to establish Cherry Tree Counselling and Psychotherapy Services in 2017.

I love the opportunity to connect with new clients, work with current clients and collaborate with colleagues on shared professional passions. It is my privilege to contribute to the building of positive therapeutic relationships and communities.

I specifically support individuals with concerns relating to anxiety and mood, relationships, health and wellness, stress, parenting, reproductive health (perinatal, pregnancy, postpartum), assertiveness, self esteem, empowerment, well-being and more.

If you are looking for a safe and supportive space where you can be heard, supported and empowered, let’s connect.

Cree is not accepting new clients at this time, another member of our team will be happy to serve you.

PROFESSIONAL BIO

My professional career began in the field of politics and social justice where I worked with municipal, provincial and federal leaders at City Hall, Queen's Park and Parliament Hill. I transitioned from politics to teaching after earning my Bachelor of Education and joining the Ontario College of Teachers as a certified member.

Teaching in the ESL community in Toronto and in elementary schools in southern Ontario and abroad provided me with the foundation I needed to establish an academic Learning Centre in downtown Dundas, Ontario for elementary and secondary school students.

Owning and operating this small business for over a decade provided me with the opportunity to hone my skills as an assessor, a special needs consultant, an academic coach and a parenting coach.

My work in Educational Therapy opened the pathway to further training in psychotherapy, a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree and full membership in the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

My professional training led me to my role as a Mental Health Counsellor in primary care with the Hamilton Family Health Team supporting the mental health needs of patients with individual counselling and co-facilitating groups on the topic of Mindful Eating.

I have also worked with the post-secondary population at McMaster University, providing counselling services for students and facilitating psycho-therapeutic groups on campus on the topics of mindfulness, procrastination and anxiety. I also served as a Facilitator and Project Leader on campus initiatives that supported student mental health and well-being. It was through these experiences and my graduate research that I gained knowledge and expertise related to eco-therapy and walk and talk counselling models.

I currently serve as an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct), in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University, which allows me to blend together my passion for life long learning, teaching and counselling.
